Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has outlined the Black Stars’ intent to approach their upcoming friendly against Austria with purpose, stressing the team’s determination to secure a win as part of their World Cup preparations.

The West African side will lock horns with Austria on Friday, March 27, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, in what forms a key test ahead of the global tournament.

Speaking in the build-up to the encounter, the 26-year-old attacker emphasized the squad’s ambition to deliver a strong performance and build momentum.

“Hopefully, [I’m] expecting a win. We want to make a statement: we are preparing for the World Cup, so hopefully a win,” the Manchester City forward said to the press.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 GMT.

Following the Austria fixture, Ghana will continue their European tour with another friendly against Germany on Monday, March 30, in Stuttgart.

With the tournament on the horizon, the Black Stars are eager to turn a new page after disappointing group-stage exits at the 2014 and 2022 editions. The team is now focused on making a stronger impression at the upcoming World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
