CAF Confederation Cup finalists Simba SC have rejected a €170,000 bid from South African top-flight outfit Kaizer Chiefs for Ugandan international and forward Steven Mukwala, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Kaizer Chiefs have harbored the interest for Mukwala for weeks, and made it official on the weekend, as they submitted the bid which was instantly rejected by Simba. The striker still has two years remaining on his contract with the Tanzanian outfit.

An exclusive source close to Mukwala has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs made their bid on Sunday, but it was instantly repulsed, as the former view the 26-year-old as an important piece in their rebuild and pursuit for continental, regional and local dominance.

“They (Kaizer Chiefs) submitted a €170,000 bid to Simba for Steven (Mukwala), but it was rejected immediately. Simba don’t want to sell the player, as he’s one of the key members of the squad set to compete in the CAF Champions League. At this point, they’re not ready to listen to offers, but Kaizer Chiefs are determined and will return with a better offer in the coming days,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Mukwala joined Simba from Ghana Premier League side and two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko FC. He has since notched 14 goals and assisted four times in 21 appearances across the League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

During his time at Asante Kotoko, Mukwala emerged as a crucial player, scoring 25 goals and assisting on 13 occasions in 61 appearances. He has previously featured for URA FC, Maroons FC and seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, Mukwala, whose transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €150,000, has amassed 22 Uganda senior national team (the Cranes) caps, scoring four times with three assists.
