Gambian international Mahmudu Bajo has emerged as one of the most sought-after young midfielders of the summer, with interest pouring in from clubs across Europe, Major League Soccer and Saudi Arabia, can exclusively confirm.
Turkish Super Lig side Çaykur Rizespor is among the clubs in the race for the 21-year-old, while teams from England, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Poland, Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League have also registered interest in the Red Star Belgrade midfielder.
Despite the growing list of admirers, Red Star Belgrade is reluctant to part ways with one of its brightest young talents. The Serbian champions are understood to prefer keeping Bajo for the upcoming season, although any club determined to sign him would likely have to meet a significant transfer valuation.
Bajo joined Red Star Belgrade from Slovak side DAC 1904 in the summer of 2025 after impressing with his performances in Slovakia and establishing himself as one of Gambian football’s most promising exports.
Although competition for places limited his opportunities during his debut campaign in Serbia, the midfielder still made 23 appearances in all competitions, gaining valuable experience with one of the region’s biggest clubs while contributing to another successful season as they won the double.
His technical quality, athleticism, defensive intelligence and composure in possession have continued to attract attention from scouts across multiple leagues, with clubs believing his best years are still ahead of him.
According to Transfermarkt, Bajo currently has an estimated market value of €2.2 million. However, Red Star Belgrade is expected to demand a considerably higher fee should it decide to entertain offers for the Gambian international.
The player’s representative, Modou Lamin Beyai, is expected to continue evaluating the various options available as discussions surrounding Bajo’s future intensify. The priority remains identifying the best sporting project should the Serbian champions decide to sanction a move.
