Gambian striker Modou Lamin Marong is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Hungarian champions ETO FC Győr from Slovakian side STK Šamorín, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The transfer has been agreed between all parties, with only the player’s work permit remaining before the deal is officially completed.
The former Gambia Under-20 forward is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Hungarian club, where he will have the opportunity to compete for a place in the squad as ETO prepares for its European qualification campaign.
Marong earned the move after an impressive season in Slovakia, scoring 10 league goals in 27 appearances for STK Šamorín and establishing himself as one of the club’s standout attacking performers.
The striker has received initial interest from various European clubs, including Hibernian FC and Dundee United of Scotland alongside AEK Larnaca but the player and his camp evaluated the much convincing project.
The transfer marks another significant step in the young striker’s career, as he prepares to make the jump to top-flight football in Hungary and continue his development at one of the country’s most successful clubs.
