Ghanaian winger Michael Ephson has officially completed his move to Egyptian outfit Modern Sport, bringing the curtain down on his one-year spell with Heart of Lions.
The 22-year-old wide attacker sealed his transfer to the Egyptian side on 15 August 2026, embarking on a new chapter in his burgeoning career after spending the previous campaign in the Ghanaian top flight.
Ephson joined Heart of Lions on 24 August 2025 following his stint with FC Samartex, but his stay in Kpando lasted just one season before the enterprising right winger secured a move abroad.
A direct and attack-minded player whose natural habitat is the right flank, Ephson departs Ghana with a respectable body of senior-level experience. He has accumulated 68 league appearances and 13 goals, clocking 4,056 minutes in domestic competition at an average of one goal every 312 minutes.
His experience, however, extends beyond Ghana’s domestic football landscape. Ephson has also tasted continental competition, featuring twice in the CAF Champions League and finding the back of the net once.
That blend of domestic consistency and continental exposure has now earned him an opportunity to test himself in Egypt, where Modern Sport have added him to their attacking arsenal with the expectation that his pace, energy and penetration can provide another dimension on the right wing.

Ephson’s most prolific period in the available statistical record came during his time in the Ghanaian Premier League, where he developed into a regular contributor and gradually enhanced his reputation as an effective attacking outlet.
Before his departure, the Ghanaian was valued at โฌ75,000, although neither Heart of Lions nor Modern Sport has disclosed the financial terms of the transfer.
The move represents the latest step in a career that has taken Ephson from FC Samartex to Heart of Lions and now into Egyptian football. At only 22, the winger will be hoping that his switch to Modern Sport becomes the springboard for a sustained presence on the international stage.
Modern Sport have now officially completed the acquisition of the Ghanaian right winger, giving Ephson the platform to begin a fresh adventure outside Ghana and further his ambitions in African club football.
