Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Ernest Poku has given Fiorentina the green light to pursue a move, with negotiations continuing between the Italian club and Bayer Leverkusen, a source close to the player has revealed to Footy-Africa.
Fiorentina have secured the 23-year-oldβs approval for a potential move and are now working to reach an agreement with Leverkusen.
The Italian club have proposed a contract until 2031, with a salary higher than what Poku currently earns in Germany.
Poku is keen on the move as he seeks more regular playing time. He has made 29 appearances for Leverkusen this season but has played 1,485 minutes, contributing five goals and seven assists.
Fiorentina are exploring two options for the transfer. The first is a permanent deal, with Leverkusen valuing Poku at around β¬20 million. The alternative is a loan with an option to buy.

Poku joined Leverkusen from AZ Alkmaar in August 2025 for a reported β¬10 million, with a further β¬2 million in potential add-ons, and signed a contract until June 2030.
The forward remains a regular in the Dutch youth setup, having earned more than 25 youth caps.
Poku is also eligible to represent Ghana at senior level. He revealed earlier this year that he had not been contacted by the Ghana Football Association over a possible switch to the Black Stars.
Fiorentina must now reach an agreement with Leverkusen to turn Pokuβs approval into a completed transfer.
