Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini’s desire to play in England was a major factor behind his decision to join Derby County, his agent Max Hagmayr has told Footy-Africa in an exclusive interview.
Fuseini completed a season-long loan move to the Championship side on deadline day from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, with Derby holding an option to make the transfer permanent.
Hagmayr revealed that Fuseini attracted concrete interest from several clubs across Europe, including three English sides, a Ligue 1 club and a Bundesliga team.
Troyes and Birmingham City were among the clubs interested in the 24-year-old.
“It’s a great deal for Mohammed Fuseini. We had a lot of interest in Mo. At least we were negotiating concretely with three English teams, one team from Ligue 1 in France and one team from the German Bundesliga,” Hagmayr, of Hagmayr Sport, told Footy-Africa.

However, Fuseini had his sights set on English football.
“His wish was to enter in the English football. We decided Derby County, a traditional English team which shows him the best future prospects,” Hagmayr said.
Footy-Africa.com had earlier reported that Fuseini had agreed a deal to join Birmingham City on loan before the move collapsed at the last minute.
The Ghanaian had travelled to England, completed his medical and taken part in a photoshoot as Birmingham prepared to finalise the transfer. However, the deal fell through before it could be completed.
Derby then revived their interest and secured Fuseini on deadline day.
“Finally it happened at the deadline day,” Hagmayr added.
Fuseini will now spend the 2026/27 season with Derby County as he begins his latest chapter in English football.
