Ugandan international forward Steven Dese Mukwala has responded to reports linking him with a move from CAF Confederation Cup finalists Simba SC to South African top-flight outfit Kaizer Chiefs, remaining non-committal about whether a transfer will take place.

In an exclusive brief response to Footy-Africa, the 25-year-old remained coy, refusing to rule out a move but also reaffirming his commitment to Simba. Mukwala, who joined the Tanzanian club in July last year on a three-year deal, still has two years left on his contract.

“I’m under contract and happy at Simba,” the highly sought-after striker told Footy-Africa. When pressed further, he added: “I’m focused on ending the season on a high with Simba, that’s it.”

Since joining from Ghana Premier League side and two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko FC, Mukwala has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 20 appearances across both the domestic league and the CAF Confederation Cup.

During his time at Kotoko, Mukwala was a key figure, netting 25 goals and providing 13 assists in 61 appearances. He has previously featured for URA FC, Maroons FC, and seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC.

In addition to Kaizer Chiefs, reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane are also interested in signing the attacker and are prepared to compete for his signature should Simba SC give the green light for negotiations.

On the international stage, Mukwala, who is valued at approximately €150,000 by Transfermarkt, has earned 22 senior caps for the Uganda national team (the Cranes), scoring four goals and providing three assists.
