Ghana midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana is set to complete a season-long loan move to Bologna after the Serie A club beat off competition from several European sides, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old attracted interest from Genoa, Watford, Strasbourg, Sassuolo and a Turkish club, but a source close to the player exclusively revealed Footy-Africa that regular playing time became the decisive factor in choosing Bologna.

As part of the agreement, Bologna will have the option to make the move permanent for €10 million.

Sulemana still has three years remaining on his Atalanta contract, having joined the Bergamo-based club on a four-year deal in June 2024.

The midfielder, who cost Atalanta around €7.5 million when he signed from Cagliari, finished last season strongly, scoring a couple of goals and showing glimpses of his potential. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is estimated at €7 million.

Sulemana is currently in Ghana, where he has joined the Black Stars’ training camp ahead of this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
