Just months after returning to Spain with AD Ceuta FC, Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng Gyabaa is in talks to join Spanish Segunda División side Granada CF on loan during the January transfer window, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The 27-year-old forward, who signed with Ceuta ahead of their historic debut in Spain’s second tier, has struggled for minutes this season, featuring in just three matches and accumulating a mere 16 minutes on the pitch.

Obeng, who left Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club after a brief stint that included a FIFA Club World Cup appearance, is eager for regular playing time to rekindle the form that saw him shine for Ghana’s U23 team at the 2019 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations.

Born in Ghana but raised in Spain, Obeng is known for his combination of physicality, aerial prowess, and relentless pressing, qualities Ceuta had hoped would anchor their attack.

A source from Obeng’s representing agency, Intermedia Sport, exclusively told Footy-Africa: “Samuel is motivated to play regularly and continue his development in a competitive environment. While he is grateful to AD Ceuta for welcoming him back to Spain, both he and the club are exploring options that allow him more game time. Granada have expressed genuine interest, and talks are progressing well ahead of the January window. Samuel wants to make a tangible impact, and this move could be ideal for all parties.”

Ceuta officials have yet to comment publicly on the potential loan, but Obeng’s desire for minutes underscores a key challenge for clubs navigating player ambitions during a pivotal debut season.

Fans will be watching closely to see if the striker can find the platform he needs to assert his goal-scoring instincts once again.
