Mohammed Kudus has lifted the lid on a light-hearted but fiery exchange inside the Tottenham dressing room, revealing that England right-back Djed Spence has already sparked the friendly mind games ahead of next summer’s World Cup clash between the Three Lions and Ghana.

The Black Stars talisman said the banter unfolded casually between training sessions, but it has added an early layer of intrigue to what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated fixtures of the group stage. Ghana and England are set to collide in their second Group L encounter on 23 June in Boston, a match already being billed as a showcase of pace, technique and personality on both sides.

Kudus sounds caution as Ghana brace for tough World Cup group

Kudus recalled the moment with a grin, explaining that Spence was the first to turn the pre-tournament camaraderie into competitive talk.

“Djed Spence told me in the locker room he will pocket me when Ghana play England at the World Cup. Time will tell,” he told TNT Sports.

For Ghana, the journey begins a week earlier on 17 June against Panama in Toronto, before shifting to the heavyweight meeting with England. Their group campaign will then wrap up against Croatia on 27 June in Philadelphia, completing what many observers believe is one of the most physically and mentally demanding schedules in the tournament.

Despite the intensity of the task ahead, Kudus appeared unfazed, treating Spence’s cheeky jab as part of the theatre that makes the World Cup irresistible. Smiling as he recounted the exchange, he made it clear that he is ready for whatever challenge awaits, on and off the pitch.
