Gambian centre back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh is rapidly emerging as one of Africa’s most sought-after young defenders after attracting interest from English Premier League giants Chelsea FC, Footy-Africa can report.

The Blues, long-time admirers of the 20-year-old, have reportedly made an inquiry as they evaluate the details of a potential move from Norwegian club Tromsø IL.

Kinteh’s growing reputation has not gone unnoticed across Europe and beyond. Saudi Arabian Super League side Al Ahli have already tabled a substantial €8.5 million offer for the highly-rated defender, underlining his rising stock in the global transfer market.

In addition, several top clubs in the German Bundesliga and Portugal are closely monitoring his situation as the race for his signature intensifies, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

The Gambian international enjoyed an impressive debut season with Tromsø IL, where he quickly established himself as one of the club’s standout performers in the recently concluded campaign. His composure, physical presence, and tactical intelligence at the heart of defence have earned him plaudits from fans and pundits alike, despite his young age.

Currently valued at €5 million, Kinteh is seen as a long-term investment with significant upside. However, Tromsø IL are understood to be in no rush to sell and have made it clear they will not consider offers below their valuation, reflecting both his importance to the team and his future potential.

As Chelsea continue to assess their defensive options and other European clubs circle, Kinteh’s next move could prove decisive in shaping his career.
