Manchester City have sent highly-rated teenager Divine Tayon Mahogany Mukasa to Leicester City on loan for the remainder of the campaign, handing the Championship strugglers a timely attacking boost as they fight to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

The England youth international, who has Ugandan roots through his father and Lithuanian heritage on his mother’s side, arrives at the King Power Stadium eager to turn potential into senior experience.

Leicester currently sit 16th and are banking on youthful energy to spark momentum in the second half of the season.

Speaking after his unveiling, Mukasa outlined his mindset for the challenge ahead:

“I’m really pleased to be here and grateful for the opportunity. This is a great environment for me to learn, gain experience and continue my development. I want to work hard every-day, take on everything I can from the staff and players around me, and contribute wherever I’m able to help the team.”

Mukasa’s rise through the academy game has been rapid and decorated. He boasts back-to-back FA Youth Cup triumphs, lifting the trophy with West Ham United in 2022/23 before repeating the feat with Manchester City in 2023/24. On the international stage, he has progressed through England’s youth setup, representing the U-15s, U-16s, U-17s and currently the U-18s.

This season, his productivity at youth level has been eye-catching. The 18-year-old has found the net seven times in 13 outings for City’s U-21s, while his combined output across the U-18 Premier League, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup stands at an impressive 17 goals and 24 assists in 34 appearances, numbers that underlined his readiness for a sterner test.

That test now comes in the unforgiving grind of the Championship under Leicester boss Martí Cifuentes, where physicality, tempo and tactical discipline often decide careers as much as talent.

Analysts have long tipped Mukasa as one of the most complete attacking prospects of his age group. The Next Wave summed up his profile:

“Divine Mukasa is a joy to watch. Tall and strong left-footer who is incredibly sound with ball at feet. Poised mind, consistent clever decisions. Naturalness to use either foot is brilliant, and epitomized by him taking numerous corners with his right foot.”

Leicester’s winter business has mixed experience with youth, with Mukasa arriving alongside Joe Aribo from Southampton, seasoned centre-back Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle United, and Dujan Richards. The blend is intended to steady a side that has lacked consistency across the first half of the campaign.

For Mukasa, the move represents more than minutes on the pitch; it is a proving ground. Regular exposure to senior football in a demanding league offers the clearest pathway from academy promise to top-flight reality, and Leicester are hoping his flair and end product can provide a spark in their push up the table.

The Foxes return to action away at Birmingham on Saturday, 7 February 2026, before welcoming Southampton to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, fixtures that could provide Mukasa with his first taste of Championship football in Leicester colours.
