Gambian teenage sensation Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh is rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about young defenders in European football, with reports indicating that Manchester United have joined Chelsea FC in monitoring the highly rated centre-back.

The 19-year-old, who currently plies his trade with Tromsø IL in Norway, has been outstanding in the Scandinavian leagues, earning a reputation as one of the most promising defensive talents in the region. His commanding presence, composure on the ball and maturity beyond his years have not gone unnoticed, sparking strong interest from clubs across Europe and the Middle East during the recent transfer window.

Footy-Africa can confirm that Tromsø IL have already turned down concrete offers for the Gambian defender. SK Slavia Praha of the Czech Republic and Saudi giants Al-Ahli reportedly saw bids in the region of €5 million and €8 million rejected, despite indications that the Norwegian club currently value Kinteh at around €4 million.

The rejections underline Tromsø’s determination to retain one of their prized assets or secure a fee that truly reflects his growing stature.

Kinteh remains under contract with Tromsø IL until 31 December 2029, placing the club in a strong negotiating position as interest intensifies. Beyond England, several prominent clubs from Portugal, Italy, France and Switzerland are closely tracking his situation, including Benfica, AS Roma, Young Boys, Basel FC, and Strasbourg, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

For Gambian football, Kinteh’s rise represents another significant milestone, highlighting the country’s growing influence in producing elite talent capable of attracting attention from Europe’s biggest clubs.
