Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah has not completed a transfer to Libyan top-flight side Al-Shomooa, contrary to widespread reports, Footy-Africa understands.
Speculation over the centre-back’s future intensified after he parted ways with South African Premier Soccer League outfit Orlando Pirates by mutual consent. The development immediately sparked debate about his next destination, with several reports linking him to a lucrative move to Libya.
Rumours later surfaced claiming Ndah had already travelled to North Africa to finalize a deal with Al-Shomooa. However, sources close to the player have firmly dismissed those claims.
“No, Olisa Ndah has not signed for any club as we speak. Please ignore the rumours about a move to Libya,” a source exclusively told Footy-Africa. “Not that anything is wrong with Libya, there have been moves from the country as about two teams have inquired about his services.”
‘No club yet’ – Olisa Ndah’s agent denies agreement with Al Shomooa
“He is in South Africa now and looking at his options with some clubs on his heels. Stellenbosch are one of the clubs who are looking at him and there is also another club in Belgium in the mix too. When he eventually signs, it will be made public and everyone will know but for now, as we speak, he has not signed for the Libyan club or any club for that matter. Olisa wants to remain in South Africa, that is his first priority because of various issues that are outside football,” the source concluded.
The 28-year-old defender joined Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2021/22 season and went on to make 81 appearances for the Buccaneers, scoring once during his time at the club.
Known for his composure on the ball and aerial strength, Ndah established himself as a key figure in defence before his recent departure.
For now, the Super Eagles star remains a free agent, carefully weighing his next move as interest builds both within South Africa and abroad.
