Exciting Nigerian forward Boluwatife Ogungbayi will continue his career at Mladá Boleslav, where he joins from Slavia Prague until the end of the season, with a buyback option included in the deal.

Nigerian agent Mohammed Babawo, who has played a key role in the transfer of several Nigerian players to the Czech Republic, exclusively told Footy-Africa that ‘Bolu’ will return stronger as he begins a new chapter with Mladá Boleslav.

“Slavia Prague have a lot of players in that position, including some Nigerians like Mubarak Suleiman and others, so coming back from a long-term injury, it will be hard for him to break into the first team,” he exclusively told Footy-Africa.

“You must understand how difficult it is for a player returning from a long-term injury, so the move became necessary. A new environment will be good for him, and in my opinion, it was the right decision because there are Nigerians there who can help him settle quickly.”

“It was a tough decision for the club because they still rate him highly. That is why they included a buyback option and first refusal in the deal. It shows they have faith in him, but at this stage of his career, he needs to be playing regularly. I believe he will bounce back and we will see the best of him again,” Babawo added.

The 21-year-old has completed a move to the Czech top-flight club, while Slavia Prague have inserted a clause that will allow them to re-sign him in the future if he rediscovers his best form.

Rated highly when he joined the Czech giants in 2022, Ogungbayi showed flashes of brilliance with the youth sides of the club, especially in the UEFA Youth League, before earning a few first-team appearances for the capital-based side.

He made a remarkable impact in the U19 team, scoring ten goals in just seven matches and quickly attracting attention as one of the most promising Nigerian prospects in Central Europe.

Unfortunately, a horrific injury kept him out for almost an entire season. Now fully fit again, the midfielder has found his chances in the Slavia Prague first team limited, prompting the move in search of regular football and a fresh challenge in the Czech league.
