Agent Babawo Mohammed in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has dismissed speculation linking Nigerian winger Prosper Obah with a summer exit from FC Shakhtar Donetsk, insisting the player has no plans to leave the Ukrainian giants anytime soon.

The 22-year-old winger only joined the Ukrainian champions during the January transfer window, signing a four-year contract with the club.

Since completing the move, Obah has made three league appearances as he continues to settle into life at the club.

Recent reports have linked the former FC Vizela player with a potential transfer away from FC Shakhtar Donetsk, with several clubs in the EFL Championship reportedly monitoring his situation.

Other sides from Germany and the Netherlands have also been credited with interest in the Nigerian winger.

Interestingly, some of the Championship clubs were keen on Obah before he eventually opted to move to Ukraine earlier this year.

However, speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Mohammed played down the transfer rumours, stressing that the winger remains focused on establishing himself at Shakhtar.

β€œThere is no plan for him (Obah) to leave Shakhtar as he just signed for them in the winter transfer window,” Mohammed said.

β€œYes, the clubs are circling around him, and there have been inquiries. Obah is a good player who, even before he went to Ukraine, had been on the radar of a lot of clubs. There were about two teams in the Championship in England that wanted him, but we felt Shakhtar Donetsk was the best move for him.”

The agent also reiterated that the player remains committed to his current club, although he admitted that situations in football can change quickly:

β€œFor now, there are no plans for him to leave the team and head elsewhere in the summer. He has a contract with the club until 2030. For now, there is nothing about him moving out, but anything can happen between now and the end of the season.”

Since arriving at FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Obah has made three league appearances and one outing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Across the season, the winger has recorded eight goals and four assists in 20 appearances, featuring for FC LNZ Cherkasy earlier in the campaign before completing his move to Shakhtar in January.
