The Ghana Football Association has officially dismissed Otto Addo from his role as head coach of the Black Stars, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure in the wake of a troubling run of results.

The decision was reached in the immediate aftermath of Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart, a result that compounded an already difficult international window. Just days earlier, the Black Stars had been convincingly beaten 5-1 by Austria in another friendly encounter, raising serious concerns about the team’s readiness.

Sources indicate that an urgent post-match meeting involving officials from the FA, representatives from the Sports Ministry, and the coach himself proved decisive. The discussions culminated in a swift resolution to end Addo’s spell in charge.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning, the FA confirmed the move, stating:

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, effective immediately.”

The statement added, “The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

With the World Cup fast approaching, the timing underscores the urgency within Ghana’s football hierarchy to steady the ship. The FA has assured supporters that a new technical roadmap, including the appointment of a successor, will be outlined soon.

Attention now shifts to upcoming preparatory fixtures, where the Black Stars are scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in May, matches expected to shape the team’s final build-up ahead of the global showpiece in North America.
