Spanish Segunda División side Cádiz CF have completed the signing of Nigerian youngster Patrick Chigbata from Lagos-based Klassisch Football Academy.
The deal for the highly rated left-back was finalised on Wednesday after the defender agreed terms with the Andalusian club. The 18-year-old has signed a two-year contract and is expected to begin his development with Cádiz’s Under-19 squad.
Footy-Africa understands that Cádiz moved quickly to secure Patrick’s signature, fending off interest from Real Oviedo, who had also been tracking the defender.
Club sources indicate that Patrick is viewed as a long-term project, with Cádiz identifying him as one of the young players they hope to build around in the coming years.
He becomes the latest player from Klassisch Football Academy to secure a move to Spain, following Yahaya Yakubu, who recently completed a transfer to La Liga side Real Oviedo.
