In a shocking development, Uganda Cranes captain and defensive midfielder Khalid Aucho has left African and Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans SC, after a nasty fall-out, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The saga started when Young Africans offered Aucho a new contract, despite the player’s initial decision to exit. In the fresh contract talks, Young Africans offered one-year on the table, yet Aucho demanded that he signs for two years. This resulted in a nasty disagreement, with the two deciding to part ways. Subsequently, his shirt 8 has since been given to new signing, Lassine Kouma.

Godfrey Kayemba, who is his personal manager under the agency ACFA, has exclusively expressed his disappointment with Young Africans SC with the way they’ve handled Aucho’s situation, calling it disrespectful.

β€œIt’s disgusting that they called him to sign a new contract after he had decided to leave when the season ended. It’s a shame and disrespectful if they treat a player of Khalid’s (Aucho) experience, having achieved so much with them. They were giving him one year, yet we wanted two years, and that wasn’t too much to ask for. The relationship is now over and we’re doing everything possible to get him a contract elsewhere,” Aucho’s manager, Kayemba, exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Aucho, whose transferMarkt valuation is estimated at €125,000, has been at Young Africans since the 2021/22 season, helping them to four Tanzania Premier League championships and three FA Cups. He has featured in 137 matches for them across all competitions.

The 31-year-old played for Egyptian sides El-Makasa and East Bengal in the past. He has also formerly played for Serbian team Red Star Belgrade, South Africa’s Baroka FC and Uganda Premier League side Kirinya Jinja SS.

Internationally, Aucho, whose Uganda Cranes debut came in 2013, remains one of the most capped players in the national colors. He has managed 74 competitive appearances, chipping in with two goals. He captained the team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations slated for Morocco.
