The Serie A is the top level of professional football in Italy and it remains one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.

Over the years, the league has been home to several top African footballers and while some players have gone on to achieve legendary status at their clubs, others have used the league as a stepping stone to moves to other clubs.

Their performances have also given them massive earnings after securing moves to play in the league and here are the five top-earning African footballers currently plying their trade in Italy.

Evan Ndicka (€123,269 per week)

Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka is currently the highest-paid African player in Serie A, earning approximately €123,269 per week, which amounts to about €6.4 million annually. The AS Roma centre-back receives a fixed salary of €98,654 with an additional €24,615 in bonuses.

The 26-year-old joined Roma in 2023 and has since developed into a key figure in the squad. His performances also earned him a place in the Serie A Team of the Season for the 2024–25 campaign.

Despite having three years remaining on his contract, interest from other clubs could see him secure a more lucrative move during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Frank Zambo Anguissa (€73,846 per week)

Cameroonian midfielder Frank Zambo Anguissa ranks second on this list, earning around €73,846 weekly. The 30-year-old joined Napoli in 2021 on loan from Fulham, before completing a permanent move the following year.

Since then, Anguissa has played an important role in Napoli’s success, helping the club secure two Serie A titles, including during the last season.

His current contract runs until 2027 and given his importance to the team, he could be handed a contract extension, which would further increase his earnings at the club.

Kamaldeen Sulemana (€71,154 per week)

Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana earns approximately €71,154 per week, made up of a €56,923 base salary and €14,231 in bonuses. The 24-year-old is also valued at around €18 million, placing him among the most valuable Ghanaian players in the world.

Sulemana joined Atalanta from Southampton last summer but has struggled to make a major impact in his debut Serie A season.

He has scored just three goals across all competitions and will be hoping for a stronger showing in the coming seasons.

Neil El Aynaoui (€66,731 per week)

Moroccan midfielder Neil El Aynaoui sits fourth on the list, earning €66,731 weekly, which amounts to around €3.47 million per year. The 24-year-old joined AS Roma last summer and quickly established himself as a key member of the squad.

He has already made 31 appearances across all competitions, playing a crucial role as Roma push for qualification to the UEFA Champions League, with only a few matches remaining in the current Serie A season.

Jean Onana (€66,731 per week)

Cameroonian midfielder Jean Onana completes the list, earning approximately €66,731 per week, including bonuses. The 26-year-old initially moved to Genoa on loan from Besiktas during the 2025 January transfer window.

He then returned to Genoa on another loan deal last summer, although it includes an obligation which is expected to make the move permanent.

While his season has been disrupted by injury and fitness issues which has limited him to just four appearances across all competitions so far, he will be hoping to return to his best in the coming season to make a difference for his side.
