Ugandan international and striker Patrick Henry Kaddu has reached an agreement with 2023/24 Uganda Cup champions Kitara FC on a new contract, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The experienced forward’s contract had run out last month, and looked destined to exit the Hoima-based club. However, following an over a week’s talks, Kaddu and the club have agreed that he signs a fresh two-year contract that will run till the end of the 2026/27 season.

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, Kaddu confirmed that he holds a verbal agreement with Kitara for an extension, and that he’d officially put pen to paper before the end of the week. He was one of the most important players at the club last season.

“This is a club I love and have always given everything, and the earlier frustration when my contract ran out was based on that. But, all is done now, and there’s no hiding that I will stay at the club for another two seasons. It will be formal before the end of the week,” the 29-year-old revealed to Footy-Africa in a brief exclusive interview.

Across the previous two separate spells at Kitara, Kaddu scored a combined 22 goals and registered six assists in the 38 games he played at the club. However, last season, he netted seven goals and assisted five times in 23 appearances for The Royals.

The veteran forward has previously enjoyed spells with 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC and Maroons FC in Uganda, Ismaily SC in Egypt as well as Moroccan sides RS Berkane and Youssoufia Berrechid.

Meanwhile, internationally, Kaddu has represented the senior national team, The Cranes, at the highest level including the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2019 in Egypt and various World Cup qualifiers. With The Cranes, the sharpshooter has played 22 competitive matches, scoring nine goals with three assists.
