Fulham vs Newcastle match preview

Fulham enter this clash after a disappointing goalless draw at relegated Wolves which ended their hopes of an European finish. The Cottagers poor outings in recent weeks dashed their hopes, although they would still be looking to end the season strongly and in solid form.

Marco Silva’s men have won 14 of their 37 matches so far this season, losing 16 times and recording seven draws. They have also scored 45 times and conceded 51, which leaves them with a negative goal difference on the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Newcastle thrashed West Ham United in their last match and must now record a favourable outcome against Fulham to ensure they finish the season in the top half, capping off a difficult campaign. The Magpies played in the UEFA Champions League last season, but have failed to qualify for Europe this time around. They have a similar record to Fulham in the league, but they have scored 53 times and conceded 53 as well.

Prediction

Both sides have poor defensive record in their most recent outings and have enough quality in attack to create many chances and score at least two goals to round up the season.

  • 17.12.2025 – Newcastle 2-1 Fulham
  • 25.10.2025 – Newcastle 2-1 Fulham

Newcastle United have narrowly edged recent meetings between these two sides, winning three times while Fulham have won just two.

Recent form: Fulham

Fulham have been poor in recent matches and are currently without a win in any of their last three games in the league, losing twice and recording a single draw.

The Cottagers also failed to keep a clean sheet in that period and have failed to find the back of the net in four of their last six matches as well.

Recent form: Newcastle

Newcastle United have improved in recent matches after a poor run of form and are unbeaten in their last three, winning twice and recording one draw.

The Magpies are without a clean sheet in their last seven matches in the Premier League and are winless in their last three away matches also.

Eddie Howe on Fulham:

“We hope to continue the upturn in our recent performances, upturn in our in-possession play, we want to end the season high, it is an important match for us.” pic.twitter.com/RWZGv8pJJq

Player to watch

Alex Iwobi (Fulham)

Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi made his return to action for Fulham last weekend after recovering deom a hamstring injury that kept him out of three games.

The Super Eagles playmaker creativity with the ball and ability to link up with his teammates could pose enough threat to help Fulham secure a good outcome from this clash.
