Nigeria vs Jamaica match preview

Nigeria enter this clash after defeating Zimbabwe 2-0 in their semifinal clash to continue their unbeaten run at the Unity Cup tournament. The Super Eagles have not lost a match since the tournament first began in 2002 and have won every three editions so far, while victory over Jamaica on Saturday will continue their dominance in the tournament.

Head coach Eric Chelle has left out several key players for the tournament and has handed debuts to more exciting talents, who showed their class in the comfortable win over Zimbabwe in their opening encounter.

Jamaica, on the other hand, recorded a 2-0 win over India to book their place in the final. Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon scored the goals for them to seal a rematch of last year’s final. The Reggae Boyz are the only other country not named Nigeria to have played in every edition of the Unity Cup tournament, but are still waiting for their maiden win in the competition.

Jamaica also missed out on qualification for the World Cup, losing to DR Congo in the intercontinental playoffs final in March.

Prediction

Despite missing several key players, Nigeria have enough quality to hurt Jamaica and seal a comfortable win from this clash to continue their dominance in the Unity Cup tournament.

Nigeria have been impressive in recent outings and have not lost any of their last 10 games in normal time, although they were beaten on penalties by Morocco in the semifinal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Super Eagles only failed to score once during that run, while they managed to keep five clean sheets in those 10 matches.

Jamaica have also been in great form over their last few games, with their only defeat in the last eight coming against DR Congo in the intercontinental playoff final in March.

The Reggae Boyz kept six clean sheets during this run of form and only failed to score twice as well.

Player to watch

Femi Azeez (Nigeria)

Five players who could make their Super Eagles debut at the 2026 Unity Cup

Super Eagles forward Femi Azeez enjoyed a superb debut against Zimbabwe with a brace that sent Nigeria to victory.

The Millwall forward’s pace and impressive crossing ability would offer the Super Eagles a threat in attack in their final clash against Jamaica.
