Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has praised his players for embracing his tactical approach following Ghana’s 1-1 draw against Wales, describing their attitude and willingness to follow instructions as one of the most positive takeaways from the encounter.
The friendly in Cardiff marked the final stage of Ghana’s preparations before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and although victory slipped away in stoppage time, Queiroz focused on the broader progress made by his team.

The Portuguese manager was particularly impressed by the commitment shown by the players throughout the match, stressing that their understanding and execution of his ideas provided plenty of encouragement for the future.
“What really pleased me a lot is the way the players listened to my instructions; my game plan; they were very respectful,” Queiroz said.
The experienced coach believes the foundations for a competitive World Cup campaign are gradually being established. Having only recently taken charge, Queiroz acknowledged that there is still work to be done but insisted the signs are promising as the squad continues to adapt to his methods.
He remains confident that increased time on the training ground and greater familiarity with his system will help Ghana become a more cohesive and effective unit in the weeks ahead.
Attention now turns to the World Cup, where the Black Stars will begin their Group L challenge against Panama on June 17. Ghana will then face a stern test against England on June 23 before concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
