Nigerian midfielder Hassan Waris has completed a move to Hungarian top-flight side Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC from Beyond Limits Football Academy, Footy-Africa understands.
While the duration of the contract was not made public, it is suspected that he signed a three or four year contract with the Hungarian club and will continue his development in Europe after establishing himself as one of the promising midfielders to emerge from the Beyond Limits setup, a source disclosed to Footy-Africa.
According to a source, the midfielder is expected to work his way towards the first-team setup after completing the initial acclimatisation period and adapting to his new environment.
Waris is a technically gifted and visionary midfielder who operates primarily in the heart of midfield. His ability to dictate play, find progressive passes and contribute to his team’s attacking transitions made him an important figure in Beyond Limits’ recent success.
The move represents another significant step in the youngster’s development and further underlines Beyond Limits’ growing reputation as a pathway for Nigerian talents into European football.
Following a growing Hungarian pathway
Waris is not the first Beyond Limits product to make the move to Hungary.
In January 2026, Isaac Chukwudi joined Hungarian club Zalaegerszegi TE FC from Beyond Limits. The 18-year-old forward initially linked up with ZTE II, with the club viewing him as a long-term development prospect. Chukwudi’s move was part of ZTE’s strategy of recruiting young, relatively unknown talents and developing them towards first-team football.
Chukwudi had attracted attention during his time at Beyond Limits, scoring 12 goals as the academy enjoyed success in the Nigeria National League, State FA Cup and Viareggio Cup. His move to Zalaegerszeg was subsequently confirmed by Footy-Africa.
Waris’ transfer to Nyíregyháza therefore adds another chapter to Beyond Limits’ growing relationship with Hungarian football.
Another Beyond Limits graduate heads to Europe
The midfielder becomes the latest Beyond Limits graduate to secure a move to Europe in 2026, continuing the academy’s impressive record of producing young players for the international market.
Beyond Limits has become one of Nigeria’s most productive development programmes in recent years, with graduates including Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Adeshina Ayodele, Kparobo Arierhi, Oluseyi Ogunniyi, Onyebuchi Obasi and Isaac Chukwudi moving on to clubs across Europe.
Ayodele, for instance, joined French club Lille from Beyond Limits in 2024 after starring in the academy’s historic Viareggio Cup triumph, while Chukwudi became another product to make the move to Hungary.
For Waris, the next challenge will be adapting to Hungarian football, earning the trust of the coaching staff and eventually making the step into Nyíregyháza’s senior team.
The deal provides the talented midfielder with time and stability to develop, while his move further strengthens Beyond Limits’ reputation as a reliable pathway from Nigerian youth football to the European game.
