Experienced Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has admitted being on the verge of completing a move to Kenya, with reports linking him to AFC Leopards following the expiration of his contract with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC.
The 32-year-old is widely expected to join Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards on a two-year deal as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa about his future, Lwanga confirmed his departure from Vipers and revealed that discussions over a move to Kenya were at an advanced stage.
“My time at Vipers has come to an end and I leave with nothing but gratitude for the club, my teammates, the coaches and the fans,” Lwanga said.
“At the moment, I’m working on a move to Kenya to a place my team will reveal at an appropriate time. The talks have progressed well and hopefully everything will be finalized soon. It’s a project that excites me and I’m looking forward to the next challenge in my career.”

While stopping short of naming his next club, midfielder suggested that an official announcement could be made in the coming days.
“There are still a few details to sort out, so I don’t want to get ahead of myself. But I can say that the move is close and, if all goes according to plan, everyone will know my next destination very soon,” he added.
Lwanga leaves Vipers after an impressive campaign in which he played a pivotal role in their league triumph. His performances and leadership qualities earned him the club’s Player’s Player of the Season award, underlining his importance to the Venoms throughout the title-winning campaign.
Lwanga’s impending switch adds another chapter to a well-travelled career that has seen him feature for clubs across the continent. The midfielder has previously played for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Egyptian side Tanta FC, as well as Ugandan outfits SC Villa and Express FC.
