Promising Gambian youngster Modou Loum is set to travel to Sweden to begin a trial with Östers IF as he bids to secure his first professional contract in European football, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
The BK West United starlet, who has also represented The Gambia at U-17 level, will depart the country tonight to join the Swedish club, where he will be assessed over the coming weeks with a view to earning a permanent deal.
The opportunity marks a significant milestone in Loum’s young career and offers him the chance to showcase his talent in one of Scandinavia’s respected football development environments.
Östers IF has become a familiar destination for Gambian players in recent years and is currently home to compatriots Musa Jatta and Musa Njie, both former BST Galaxy FC standouts who have established themselves at the Swedish club.
Loum will be hoping to follow a similar pathway as he seeks to impress the coaching staff with his technical ability, work ethic and potential during the trial period.
The move has been facilitated by Gambian agent Modou Lamin Beyai, who has played an instrumental role in creating opportunities for several young Gambian footballers across Europe.
