Nigerian midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh is set to extend his stay at English League Two club Swindon Town FC after an impressive campaign, Footy Africa has exclusively learned.
The 25-year-old, who joined Swindon during the 2023/24 season, is finalizing terms on a one-year contract extension, with his current deal expiring on June 30. This marks the second time Ofoborh has renewed with The Robins, following an earlier extension in June 2023.
A source from his agency, CAA Base Limited, confirmed that the deal is close, with improved financial terms reflecting his strong performances.
โThe agreement with Ofoborh is close, and a new contract is likely to be signed at the end of the week. He is extremely happy in the city and at the club, given the treatment he’s been given since joining them. The negotiation includes improved wages, as he’s performed well in the concluded season,โ the source told Footy Africa.
Ofoborh made 42 appearances across League Two, the EFL Cup, and the EFL Trophy this season, contributing three goals. After joining in March 2024, he featured in every League Two game for the remainder of the campaign, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in Swindon’s midfield.
Valued at โฌ175,000 by Transfermarkt, the Nigerian began his career with AFC Bournemouth, where he captained the U18 side and was named Young Player of the Season in 2017/18.
He also enjoyed a successful loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers in 2019/20, helping them earn promotion to the EFL Championship. Ofoborh later moved to Scottish giants Rangers FC before eventually joining Swindon.
Internationally, he represented Nigeria at the U20 World Cup in Poland in 2019, making three appearances. However, he is yet to earn a senior cap for the Super Eagles.
