Gambian striker Modou Lamin Marong has emerged as a sought-after talent this summer, with several European clubs expressing strong interest in signing him from Slovakian side FC ŠTK Šamorin, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The young forward has attracted attention following an impressive campaign in Slovakia, with Scottish Premiership clubs Hibernian FC and Dundee United among the teams to have made inquiries about his availability. Cypriot outfit AEK Larnaca and Hungarian champions ETO Győr FC have also shown interest as they assess attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.
Despite the growing number of suitors, Marong’s camp is taking a measured approach to his future. His representative, former professional footballer and agent Cherno Samba, is carefully evaluating each proposal to ensure the player’s next move offers the right balance between sporting ambition and financial security.
Rather than rushing into a transfer, the priority is to identify a club where Marong can continue his development while enjoying regular first-team football and long-term career progression.
The striker heads into the transfer window on the back of an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with FC ŠTK Šamorin, where he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 27 appearances. His performances established him as one of the club’s standout players and significantly increased interest in his services across Europe.
Marong is currently with The Gambia Under-23 national team, taking part in the Africell training camp as preparations continue for upcoming international assignments. His continued involvement with the national setup further underlines his status as one of the country’s promising young attacking talents.
According to Transfermarkt, the Gambian forward currently has an estimated market value of €125,000, although that figure could rise if interest from multiple clubs develops into formal offers.
With clubs from Scotland, Cyprus and Hungary all monitoring his situation, the coming weeks are expected to be decisive as Marong and his representatives determine the best destination for the next stage of his career.
