Agent Modou Lamin Beyai of Modoustic Sports PR Company, who facilitated the Gambian youngster Edmond Mendy signing a two-year permanent contract with Polish club Miedź Legnica from Stingers Football Academy, during an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, has described the deal and the future of his client.

Modou Lamin Beyai has stated that the deal was more than just another player transfer, but the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at creating sustainable opportunities for talented Gambian footballers in Europe.

Speaking exclusively after the completion of the deal, Beyai expressed his appreciation to the Polish club for placing its trust in his organisation.

“First of all, I would like to sincerely thank Miedź Legnica, the club’s President and Owner, as well as the Sporting Director for the trust they have placed in us to identify and provide talented young players from The Gambia. I truly appreciate their confidence in our work,” he exclusively told Footy-Africa.

According to Beyai, the agreement extends far beyond the signing of a single player, with both parties committed to establishing a long-term development project.

“This is a long-term project that Miedź Legnica wants to build in The Gambia and I am very happy that together we are opening more doors and creating genuine opportunities for young Gambian footballers to pursue professional careers in Europe.”

He revealed that Miedź Legnica’s decision was influenced by the success of similar projects his agency has developed across Europe.

“The club has closely followed the work we have done in developing similar pathways with clubs in Estonia, particularly with Paide Linnameeskond, in Slovakia with FK Železiarne Podbrezová and across Scandinavia. They have seen the positive results of those projects and expressed a clear ambition to implement a similar model with Miedź Legnica. That is something we are proud of and we are committed to making this partnership another success for both the club and Gambian football.”

Beyai also highlighted that the arrivals of Edmond Mendy and fellow Gambian youngster Yusupha Jabbi were made possible by the impressive performances of previous Gambian players at the club.

“The signings of Yusupha Jabbi and Edmond Mendy are also a testament to the success of the players who came before them. I want to acknowledge former BST Galaxy FC duo Modou Keita and Modou Lamin Ceesay, whose professionalism, commitment, and performances laid a strong foundation for this partnership. Their success gave the club even greater confidence in the quality of players coming from The Gambia.”

He pointed to Modou Keita’s rise through the ranks as evidence that the Polish club offers a genuine pathway for young talent.

“Modou Keita’s journey is a perfect example of the pathway Miedź Legnica has created. He started with the U-19 team, worked hard every day, earned his promotion to the first team and established himself as an A-team player before the end of last season. That demonstrates that the club is not only signing young talent but also giving them a real opportunity to develop and progress.”

Beyai believes the responsibility now rests with the newest arrivals to continue building on that foundation.

“I am delighted for Yusupha and Edmond. They now have the responsibility to continue this positive legacy by working hard, remaining humble and proving themselves every day. If they do that, I have no doubt they have the talent to achieve great things.”

Looking ahead, the experienced agent said his ambition extends well beyond individual transfers.

“Hopefully, they will inspire many more young Gambian players to follow the same path in the years ahead. Our objective has never been to facilitate one or two transfers; it has always been to build sustainable pathways that give talented Gambian players a genuine opportunity to succeed at the highest level, and our partnership with Miedź Legnica is another important step towards achieving that vision.”

Mendy’s move represents another success story for Gambian football’s growing presence in Europe.
