Super Eagles forward Christantus Uche has resumed training with Spanish side Getafe following the expiration of his loan spell at English club Crystal Palace, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
A source close to the player told Footy-Africa.com that Uche’s preference is to remain at Getafe and rebuild his career after a frustrating spell at Crystal Palace.
“Uche wants stability and would like to stay at Getafe and rebuild after what happened at Crystal Palace. But the issue is that Getafe need to raise funds and are exploring every opportunity to generate income while remaining financially stable.”
“It has not been an easy period for him, but he is fully focused on playing football again. His first choice is to stay in Spain because he enjoyed his time there and misses playing in La Liga. We all know Getafe are open to selling him, but only for a fee they believe reflects his value.”
Christantus Uche remains on AC Milan’s transfer radar, Real Betis also in the hunt
“There are clubs interested in signing him. I know of at least four from Germany, England and Spain,” the source concluded.
Uche, who won the UEFA Conference League Goal of the Tournament award last season, endured a difficult spell in England despite Palace’s successful campaign.
The 23-year-old failed to make 10 consecutive Premier League appearances, a clause that would have triggered a permanent move to Selhurst Park. As a result, he has returned to Getafe ahead of the new season.
However, the Spanish club are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the Nigerian international as they look to improve their financial position.
Getafe are understood to value Uche at around €15 million, with the sale of the midfielder expected to help ease the club’s financial pressures.
Spanish sides Real Betis and Real Sociedad are believed to be monitoring his situation closely, while several clubs from Germany and England have also expressed interest.

During his time at Crystal Palace, Uche made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice in the UEFA Conference League and registering one Premier League assist.
However, he accumulated just 159 minutes of Premier League football, falling short of the appearance clause required for Crystal Palace to make his move permanent.
