Sporting Lagos forward John Lucky is attracting interest from Czech champions Slavia Prague following an impressive spell on trial, sources have told Footy-Africa.
The highly rated youngster, who has emerged as one of Sporting Lagos Academy’s brightest prospects, is among several players from the Lagos-based club being monitored by European teams.
Slavia Prague have made contact with Sporting Lagos to register their interest after the forward enjoyed a successful six-week trial with the club, Footy-Africa understands.
Lucky has earned comparisons with Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen because of his style of play and attacking attributes, although he is still at an early stage of his career.
The striker played a key role in Sporting Lagos Academy’s triumph at the 2024 Gothia Cup, scoring twice during the tournament. He also impressed in the 2024 Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) season, registering five goal contributions in nine appearances before earning promotion to the club’s first team.
His rise has coincided with that of fellow academy graduates Linus Zika and Seun Akanji. Zika has also attracted interest from Czech side Sparta Prague, while Akanji recently completed a move to Norwegian club LillestrΓΈm.
It remains to be seen whether Slavia Prague will formalise their interest with an official transfer offer as they continue to assess the teenager’s long-term potential.
