Gambian international Adama Bojang has officially signed a new long-term contract with French club Stade de Reims before sealing a season-long loan move to Belgian Pro League side Sporting Charleroi, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The new agreement extends the 22-year-old striker’s stay at Reims until 2031, underlining the French club’s confidence in his long-term potential while allowing him to continue his development with regular first-team football in Belgium.
Charleroi won the race for Bojang’s signature despite strong interest from several clubs, including former English Premier League side West Ham United, which also explored the possibility of signing the Gambian forward on loan.
Following successful negotiations, all parties have reached a full agreement on the transfer. Bojang is expected to travel to the Netherlands on Friday alongside his agent, Cherno Samba, to complete his medical examinations, sign the necessary documents and link up with his new teammates for pre-season.
The loan move represents another important step in the striker’s European journey. Since joining Stade de Reims in 2023, Bojang has continued to progress steadily, gaining valuable experience through regular senior football.
Adama Bojang signs new Stade de Reims deal as loan interest grows
He previously enjoyed a successful loan spell with Swiss side Grasshopper Club Zürich during the 2024/25 campaign before returning to Reims, where he made 30 appearances and scored three goals during his first full season with the club’s senior team.
The decision to extend his contract before sanctioning another loan move reflects Reims’ long-term plans for the Gambian international, who remains one of the club’s most highly regarded young attacking talents.
For Sporting Charleroi, the arrival of Bojang adds pace, power and goalscoring potential to their attacking options ahead of the new Belgian Pro League season. The club believes the loan agreement provides an excellent opportunity for the striker to continue his development in another competitive European league.
