Nigeria forward Gift Orban is set to join newly promoted Turkish Süper Lig side Amedspor, with sources close to Footy-Africa indicating that the deal is nearing completion.
The Diyarbakır-based club has made significant progress in negotiations with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, and an agreement is now close. Amedspor will cover the player’s salary, while Orban is expected to arrive in Turkey on Sunday to complete the move.
The transfer would bring an end to another chapter in the 23-year-old’s eventful European career.
Orban spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona, where he scored seven goals and provided three assists in 29 Serie A appearances. Despite his contribution, Verona were unable to avoid relegation.

Amedspor secured promotion to the Turkish top flight for the first time in the club’s history and have strengthened aggressively ahead of their debut Süper Lig campaign. The Nigerian forward is expected to be one of the headline additions as the club looks to establish itself among Turkey’s elite.
Orban began his European journey with Norwegian side Stabæk before earning a move to Belgian club KAA Gent, where he announced himself as one of Europe’s brightest young forwards. He scored 32 goals in 52 appearances for Gent across all competitions, earning a €12 million move to French side Lyon in January 2024.
His spell in France was short-lived, leading to a transfer to Hoffenheim before his loan move to Verona. If completed, Amedspor will become the fifth club Orban has represented in the last three years.
Still only 24, the Super Eagles forward will be hoping the move to Turkey provides the stability needed to rediscover the form that made him one of Africa’s most sought-after strikers.
