Gambian youngster Modou Lamin Marong is flying out to Hungary today to complete his permanent transfer to Hungarian champions ETO Győr from Slovakian side STK Samorin, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The 18-year-old has now obtained his visa and work permit, clearing the final administrative hurdle ahead of his move to Hungary.
Marong is travelling alongside his agent Cherno Samba and is expected to undergo his medical examination on Friday, before officially putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at ETO Győr until 2029.
Marong earned the move after an impressive season in Slovakia, scoring 10 league goals in 27 appearances for STK Šamorín and establishing himself as one of the club’s standout attacking performers.
The striker has received initial interest from various European clubs, including Hibernian FC and Dundee United of Scotland alongside AEK Larnaca but the player and his camp evaluated the much convincing project.
The move represents another major step in the young Gambian’s development as he prepares to begin a new chapter with the Hungarian champions.
