Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare says Ajax’s ambition to return to the top of Dutch football convinced him to join the club on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The forward told Africafoot that conversations with technical figure Jordi Cruyff and Ajax’s head coach persuaded him that Amsterdam was the right place to revive his career and help the club rebuild.
“I like the project and something that I wanted to join and work and build and take the club back to the top,” Arokodare said.

“They’re trying to take Ajax back to the usual spot, the position which is number one spot, and obviously the previous seasons have not been the greatest.”
The move came after a difficult spell at Wolves, where Arokodare struggled to reproduce the form he showed at Belgian side Genk. He had also been linked with Besiktas, Trabzonspor and Fiorentina before opting for Ajax.
His loan deal includes an option to buy, giving the Nigerian international a chance to earn a permanent move while helping Ajax challenge for a return to the top of Dutch football.
