Gambian forward Abdoulie Manneh could be set for a move to Belgian top-flight side Cercle Brugge, rather than Club Brugge as reported by several media outlets, with negotiations progressing over a potential transfer this summer.
The 21-year-old has been one of the most sought-after Gambian players in recent transfer windows, and after two failed moves in the past year, a departure from Swedish champions Mjällby AIF now appears increasingly likely.
Mjällby’s Sporting Director, Hasse Larsson, in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has confirmed that both the club and the player are eager to complete a transfer before the close of the summer window.
“We are trying to get a deal done. There is a lot of interest in him – we will see if it comes to fruition or not. There is a lot that needs to be agreed upon.”

Manneh has been expected to leave Mjällby for some time. A proposed move to Greek giants Olympiacos last summer collapsed in controversial circumstances, while another transfer to English club Birmingham City fell through during the winter transfer window despite advanced negotiations.
Despite those setbacks, the Gambian international remained fully committed to Mjällby and continued to play a vital role for the Swedish side.
Across three seasons with the club, Manneh has made 76 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and establishing himself as one of Mjällby’s most influential attacking players. He was instrumental in the club’s historic 2025/26 title-winning campaign, helping guide the team to the Swedish championship.
While Cercle Brugge are currently leading the race for his signature, sources close to the player have confirmed that clubs from England and Greece continue to monitor his situation closely, with interest in the versatile forward remaining strong.
According to Transfermarkt, Manneh currently has a market value of €3 million, reflecting his growing reputation as one of the brightest young Gambian talents playing in Europe.
