Belgian Pro League side KV Mechelen have completed the permanent signing of highly rated Nigerian striker Adeshina Ayodele from French club LOSC Lille, with the 20-year-old putting pen to paper on a contract until the summer of 2029, with the option of a further year.
A source at Beyond Limits told Footy-Africa that the move was carefully planned with the player’s long-term development in mind.
“It is important that Ayodelle plays regular first-team football at this stage of his career because it will be crucial to his development,” the source said. “It was a collective decision involving Lille, our academy and KV Mechelen, even though there were several clubs interested in signing him.”
“We had teams in Scandinavia, where we have established relationships, asking about him. However, the Belgian club showed greater commitment and provided certain assurances that I cannot disclose publicly. At 20, he needs to be playing first-team football consistently, and Belgium offers him the perfect platform to demonstrate his ability.”

“Tolu Arokodare also left France for Belgium and became one of the league’s standout players. That is a path that should inspire him as he begins this new chapter.”
Ayodele arrives in Belgium after an impressive spell with Lille’s reserve team, where he scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 54 appearances. He also showcased his quality in the UEFA Youth League, netting twice in six outings against some of Europe’s most promising young talents.
The forward began his football journey in Nigeria with Beyond Limits Football Academy before progressing through the Remo Stars system. His performances earned him a move to Lille in 2024, but with first-team opportunities proving limited in France, the Nigerian has opted for a fresh challenge in Belgium.
Despite attracting interest from clubs in Scandinavia, Portugal and the Netherlands, Mechelen emerged as the preferred destination as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
The move is widely regarded as an ideal next step for Ayodele, giving him the opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s most competitive development leagues while gaining valuable top-flight experience.
Mechelen, who finished fifth in the Belgian Pro League last season, begin their 2026/27 campaign away to Gent on Sunday, with Adeshina hoping to make his competitive debut for his new club.
