Genk are close to completing the signing of Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie after being impressed by his performances during his loan spell at RAAL La Louvière, sources have confirmed to Footy-Africa.
The Belgian club have already agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old, while negotiations with Al-Qadsiah are now at an advanced stage.
Genk’s interest in Afriyie grew after the youngster scored against them during his spell at La Louvière last season. His performances convinced the club that he has the qualities to strengthen their attacking options.
RAAL La Louvière also wanted to keep Afriyie for another season, while clubs from England and Spain had shown interest, according to sources close to the player’s camp.

However, Afriyie is pushing for a permanent move as he looks for greater stability and a clear pathway in his development. Genk are keen to make that possible, although a loan arrangement has not been completely ruled out.
Al-Qadsiah are expected to seek a sell-on clause should they agree to a permanent transfer, allowing the Saudi club to benefit from any future move.
Afriyie joined Al-Qadsiah in January 2025 on a three-and-a-half-year contract until June 2028 before spending last season on loan at La Louvière.
The forward is now edging closer to a permanent move to Belgian football, with Genk leading the negotiations.
