Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Mamah is set to turn down interest from Europe and sign for Asante Kotoko, with the 21-year-old having agreed personal terms with the Kumasi giants, Footy-Africa can confirm.
The Samartex forward’s future was initially a battle between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak before European interest emerged.
Spanish second-tier side AD Ceuta and Austrian club Admiral Wacker subsequently joined the race for the forward.
However, the proposals from the European clubs have been considered insufficient by Mamah’s camp and are now unlikely to change his decision to remain in Ghana.
“The offers aren’t what they are expecting. They have looked at the proposals and they feel they do not reflect the value of the player,” a source close to the situation told Footy-Africa.
“At this point, they are not expecting any new offer from Europe, so the preference is to stay in Ghana. Kotoko are leading the race and the player has already agreed personal terms with them.”
The source also confirmed that Kotoko’s proposal is more attractive than the offer from Hearts of Oak, although the exact amount the Porcupine Warriors are willing to pay has not been disclosed.
“Kotoko’s offer is better than what Hearts of Oak have put forward. The exact figure is not something I can disclose, but that is where things stand now,” the source added.
Mamah has established himself as a consistent performer in the Ghana Premier League, scoring 20 goals in 79 appearances. He has also gained continental experience, scoring once in three CAF Champions League appearances.
