Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca have reportedly made their first move in the pursuit of Uganda Cranes playmaker Allan Okello, with the African heavyweights said to have lodged a $700,000 (approximately UGX 2.6 billion) offer for the Young Africans star.
Sources have told Footy-Africa that Wydad are keen to prise the 26-year-old midfielder away from the Tanzanian champions after an impressive debut season that has catapulted his profile onto the continental stage.
Young Africans, however, appear unwilling to entertain anything short of their asking price.
The Jangwani-based outfit have reportedly slapped a $1 million (approximately UGX 3.7 billion) valuation on Okello and are only prepared to open the door for his departure if Wydad or any other interested club meets the figure in its entirety.
Yanga’s firm stance is understandable given the Ugandan’s remarkable impact since his arrival from Vipers SC in January.
Okello wasted little time settling into his new surroundings, emerging as one of the club’s most potent creative forces and playing a decisive role in Yanga’s successful defence of the 2025/26 Premier League crown.
Across 23 appearances, the attacking midfielder registered an eye-catching 14 goals and eight assists, numbers that have inevitably attracted attention beyond Tanzania and strengthened his value in the transfer market.
His form has now apparently put him on Wydad’s radar, with the Moroccan giants exploring the possibility of taking one of Uganda’s brightest attacking talents to Casablanca.

For the moment, though, Yanga remain in the driving seat.
Okello still has roughly a year and five months left on his current contract, placing the Tanzanian champions in a strong negotiating position and leaving Wydad with the task of bridging the $300,000 gap between their reported offer and Yanga’s valuation.
While his future continues to generate speculation, Okello’s immediate focus remains firmly on matters on the pitch.
The Ugandan is expected to feature for Yanga when they face bitter rivals Simba SC in the Community Shield at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Wednesday.
The high-profile encounter will provide Okello with another continental shop window, and another chance to demonstrate the qualities that have reportedly convinced Wydad Casablanca to put UGX 2.6 billion on the table for his signature.
