Asante Kotoko are closing in on the acquisition of Ivorian central defender Koffi Marius Ange Bini as the Kumasi giants intensify their preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign, as per Footy-Africa sources.
The 24-year-old is poised to become the latest addition to a Kotoko squad undergoing significant reconstruction, with the club seeking greater solidity and depth at the heart of its defence.
Bini arrives with a distinctly international profile, having spent the formative years of his senior career moving between clubs in Africa, Asia and Europe. His footballing journey has taken him through Kuwait, Oman, the Philippines and Belarus, exposing him to a variety of playing styles and competitive environments.
His previous employers include Al-Taqadom, Al-Talaba, Al-Jahra, Al-Rustaq, United City FC, Maharlika Manila FC and Belarusian outfit FK Smorgon.
The defender joined Smorgon in March 2025 and featured three times in the Belarusian Premier League during the 2025 campaign. Prior to his European adventure, he had established himself in the Philippines, turning out for both United City FC and Maharlika Manila, following earlier spells in the Gulf region.
Bini has already been integrated into Kotoko’s pre-season plans, having travelled with the Porcupine Warriors to Accra as the team continued its preparations for the new season.
The club will be banking on his physical presence and defensive attributes to provide additional muscle to a backline that is being reshaped ahead of the new campaign. His aerial ability, strength and imposing frame could offer Kotoko a different dimension in central defence.
For Bini, the anticipated move represents an opportunity to make his mark in one of West Africa’s most prominent footballing environments. A switch to Kotoko would also place him at one of Ghana’s most storied clubs, where expectations will be high from the outset.
Kotoko are revamping their squad following a difficult 2025/26 season, with head coach Eric Tinkler overseeing efforts to assemble a more competitive side.
