Nigerian striker Mustapha Isah could leave RAAL La Louvière in the January transfer window, with clubs in Belgium and Leicester City understood to be monitoring his impressive start to life in the Belgian top flight, Footy-Africa understands.
The 22-year-old centre-forward has made an immediate impact since joining La Louvière from Norwegian side Kristiansund BK in the summer, scoring five goals in his first seven league appearances. Current statistical records place him among the leading scorers in the Belgian Pro League.
A reliable source close to the situation told Footy-Africa that the possibility of a January departure cannot be ruled out if Isah maintains his current level of performance.
“The club is happy with him, and they know his value can increase if he continues scoring. Clubs are monitoring the situation,” the source told Footy-Africa.
“He’s a very good player and has been lucky. He’s been moving forward in almost every transfer window. So a transfer in January may be possible”
The source added that La Louvière could consider selling the Nigerian if a suitable offer arrives, particularly given the potential for the club to make a significant profit on its investment.
“If the offers are good enough, the club could look at a sale for a profit. But for now, the focus is on the player continuing to perform and showing what he can do in Belgium,” the source said.
Isah joined La Louvière from Kristiansund in July after impressing during his time in Norway. Kristiansund confirmed at the time that the transfer represented a club-record sale, although the Norwegian side did not disclose the fee.
La Louvière’s official announcement described Isah as a striker who stands out for his pace and goalscoring ability, while the club handed him a three-year contract with an additional option.
The Nigerian had previously developed his career in Scandinavia, moving from Denmark’s Randers FC to Norway, where a loan spell at IK Start helped bring him to the attention of Kristiansund. He subsequently established himself in the Norwegian top flight before securing his move to Belgium.
His early form at La Louvière has now placed him on the radar of clubs beyond his current employers. With five goals from seven league matches, Isah has quickly demonstrated why the Belgian club invested in him during the summer.
The source also indicated that there is currently no agreement in place for Isah to leave, with his immediate future dependent on his performances and the level of interest that develops ahead of January.
“Nothing is decided at the moment. He needs to keep working and scoring. If he continues like this, then there will naturally be more serious interest in January,” the source added.
Isah’s contract with La Louvière runs until June 2029, giving the Belgian club a strong contractual position should it decide to negotiate a transfer. Current market-value estimates have also risen from the level previously associated with the player, reflecting his strong start to the season.
For now, Isah remains focused on La Louvière, but if his goalscoring form continues, the Nigerian striker could become one of the names to watch when the January transfer window opens.
