Reports linking Gambian winger Alieu Fadera with a move from Como to fellow Serie A side Lecce have been described as “totally untrue” by a source close to the player and the club, that spoke exclusively with Footy-Africa.
A member of Fadera’s agency confirmed that Lecce are interested in the 24-year-old but firmly denied that negotiations are currently taking place for a transfer.
Several reports had claimed that Lecce had opened discussions with Como over a potential loan deal with an option to buy for the Gambian international, who returned to Como following a loan spell at Sassuolo last season.
Fadera made 28 appearances for Sassuolo in Serie A during the 2025/26 campaign, starting eight matches and scoring twice.
Despite the clarification, Fadera’s future at Como remains uncertain. The winger could still leave the club before the summer transfer window closes, with his representatives expected to assess potential opportunities.
However, a move to Lecce is currently not one of them, with sources close to the player dismissing reports of ongoing negotiations between the two Serie A clubs.
Fadera, who has established himself as an important Gambian international, remains under contract with Como as the search for his next destination continues.
