Young Ghanaian forward Islam Mohammed Kpare has, in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, expressed his excitement after completing his move to Serbian second-tier side FK Jedinstvo Ub.
The 2008-born striker has signed a three-year contract with the Serbian club after leaving Ghanaian outfit Vision In Motion.
Kpare revealed that his performances during his trial in Serbia played a key role in earning him the contract, after he scored four goals in two matches.
“I’m very happy and excited about this opportunity. It is a big step for me and I want to make the most of it,” Kpare told Footy-Africa.
“During my trials, I scored four goals in two matches, and that helped me to finally get the contract. I am very grateful for the opportunity, and I want to continue working hard.”
Kpare believes the move provides him with an important platform to develop and prove himself in European football.
“I know I am still young and have a lot to learn, but I am ready to work hard, listen to my coaches and improve every day. I want to show my qualities and help the team.”
Kpare began his football journey in Offinso in the Ashanti Region with Great Mahamadans before moving to Accra and joining third-tier side Yaogo FC, where he finished as the club’s top scorer.
He later played for Cedars Star Academy before joining Ghana Premier League side Accra Great Olympics. He scored eight goals and provided three assists during his season with the club, while also winning three MVP awards.
After his spell with Vision In Motion, Kpare secured his move to Serbia following his impressive trial and is now determined to use the opportunity as a stepping stone towards bigger things.
“My target is to keep improving, become a better player and hopefully get bigger opportunities in the future,” he added. I want to give everything I have, help my team and show that I can compete at this level. This is only the beginning for me.”
