Hull City have joined the race to sign Nigerian forward Abdoulaye Agbejoye and have made contact with his club Grassrunner, Footy-Africa can easily.
The Premier League club are the latest side to show an interest in the highly rated youngster, who has also attracted attention from Premier League side Nottingham Forest and Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
Agbejoye’s emergence has been driven by a combination of his physical strength, pace and finishing ability, qualities which have led to comparisons with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and former Nigeria forward Rashidi Yekini.
The 17-year-old significantly enhanced his reputation after finishing as both top scorer and Player of the Tournament at the Nigerian Youth League Cup.
He subsequently carried that form onto the international stage with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles at the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Ivory Coast, where his performances helped the team reach the final.
His displays have attracted growing interest from clubs in Europe, with Hull now making an approach to Grassrunner as they consider a move for the forward.
Footy-Africa understands that Nottingham Forest and Bayer Leverkusen have previously monitored Agbejoye’s progress, although there has been no confirmation that either club has made a formal bid.
Hull’s interest could intensify the competition for the teenager, with clubs understood to be assessing his potential and long-term development.
Agbejoye remains one of Grassrunners’ most prized assets, and his performances at youth and international level have placed him firmly on the radar of clubs looking for emerging Nigerian talent.
Further approaches are expected as interested clubs in Scandinavian countries are also monitoring his situation.
