Pa Yusupha Jammeh has officially completed his loan move to French Ligue 2 side Stade de Reims from Gambia First Division club Steve Biko FC, with an option for the French club to make the transfer permanent.
His agent, Cherno Samba, who played a key role in facilitating the transfer, in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has expressed belief Reims provides the ideal environment for Jammeh to develop and eventually become a top-level player.
“It is a great move for him. A very, very good move for him. The boy will go there and learn it straight and become a force.”
Samba revealed that the decision to choose Reims was driven by the club’s reputation for developing young players and providing them with opportunities at the professional level.
“It is always better to try to take these boys to clubs of a good level, so they can develop and become assets for the country.”
The agent is also confident in Jammeh’s qualities as a striker, highlighting his physical strength, pace and goalscoring ability.
“He is a great striker. He can score goals. He has got a very good strength and he is quick.”
According to Samba, Jammeh had other options available, but the decision was ultimately made to begin his professional career at Reims because of the club’s commitment to youth development.
“The guys at Reims are top players. They believe in youth football and believe in giving him a chance. So it is right to take him to Stade de Reims.”
Samba expressed his delight at seeing the youngster secure the move while reminding him that the hard work starts now.
“I am very happy for the boy. He is humble, and I am sure he will do great. He has other options, but we felt that it is best to start his professional career here. It is a long way to go, but he now needs to work harder.”
The move marks a major step in the career of the young Gambian striker, who impressed during the 2025/26 GFF League One season and now gets the opportunity to develop in the French professional football system.
Jammeh now begins a new chapter in France, with the opportunity to develop his game, adapt to European football and potentially earn a permanent move to Reims.
