FK Železiarne Podbrezová have the option to make Nigerian midfielder Samson Tijani’s loan move permanent when his his season-long spell comes to an end, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
Tijani has joined the Slovak Super Liga club from Czech side Dukla Prague on loan for the season, with the agreement understood to include a pathway for Podbrezová to retain the midfielder beyond the initial loan period.
A source told Footy-Africa that Podbrezová can sign Tijani permanently if he satisfies the agreed condition during the loan spell.
The source believes the move is a positive one for the Nigerian international, who will now have the opportunity to continue his development and gain valuable playing experience in Slovakia.
The deal also includes a two-year option for a permanent transfer, giving Podbrezová the opportunity to keep Tijani beyond the current campaign.
Tijani, who joined Dukla Prague in June 2025 after leaving Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg at the end of his contract, made his move to the Czech side as a free agent before featuring in the Czech top flight.
His switch to Podbrezová represents the latest stop in a European career that has already taken him through several countries.
The midfielder has previously spent time with TSV Hartberg, FC Liefering and Wolfsberger AC in Austria, as well as Norwegian club Fredrikstad.
Tijani emerged through Nigeria’s youth football system playing for Edwin Collins SC and captained the Golden Eaglets at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
