Gambian youngster Youssoupha Sanyang has joined Czech Liga 1 side SK Artis Brno on loan from fellow Czech club SK Slavia Praha for the remainder of the season.
Sanyang’s agent Modou Lamin Beyai in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa described the process of securing the move as one of the most painstaking transfers he has worked on this summer, revealing that discussions around the player’s future began as early as July.
“Youssoupha Sanyang’s situation has probably been one of the most painstaking transfers I’ve worked on this summer,” the agent said. “We started working on his situation already in July and throughout the window there was a lot of genuine interest in him.”
According to the agent, Sanyang attracted interest from more than six clubs across several European and international markets, including Championship clubs in England, teams in the Turkish Süper Lig, Poland’s top division, Portugal, Romania and the UAE Pro League.
Several of those opportunities became concrete with offers, but a deal could not be reached with Slavia Praha.
“Of course, from our side there was some disappointment because we worked extremely hard throughout the summer to find what we believed would be the best possible next step for Sanyang,” he explained.

“But football doesn’t always go 100% according to the plan you have, and sometimes you have to make difficult decisions based on the situation in front of you.”
With several other transfer windows already closed, the priority became finding Sanyang a club where he could get regular playing time.
“When Artis Brno came in as late as yesterday evening on deadline day in the Czech Republic, therefore, it became very difficult to say no,” the agent said.
The move was also recommended by Slavia Praha, who believe Artis Brno can provide Sanyang with the minutes he needs to continue his development.
“At the same time, the situation remains flexible as there is a possibility for him to return to Slavia in January or potentially make a permanent move elsewhere if he performs well and the right opportunity comes,” he added.
For Sanyang, the immediate objective is clear: play football, regain confidence and continue the rapid development he has demonstrated in recent years.
“He is still a young player with a lot of quality and potential, so I don’t look at this as a step backwards,” the agent said. “Sometimes in a young player’s career, you need to take steps that give you the platform to take two or three bigger steps afterwards.”
The agent believes the responsibility now rests with Sanyang to make the most of his opportunity at Artis Brno.
“Now the responsibility is of course on him, where he has to go to Artis Brno, work hard, play games, perform and show everyone the player we know he can be. Then we will see what the future brings.”
The 21-year-old winger made 21 appearances for Slavia Praha last season and will now spend the rest of the campaign at Artis Brno, where he is expected to have an opportunity to play more regularly and continue his development.
The loan move gives the young Gambian an important opportunity to gain regular playing time at a crucial stage of his career, with his performances at Artis Brno likely to play a significant role in determining his next move.
